Learners will be introduced to themed vocabulary. Learners will practice pronunciation and will be able to identify the word, and its meaning, and use it in context. While learning vocabulary, students will also be practicing their listening and comprehension skills. The small group setting allows for plenty of opportunities for learners to practice what they are learning. In this fun and engaging course, students meet 2x a week to learn Spanish vocabulary and basic grammar. Class material is presented and reviewed through interactive games, drawing, and play-acting making it ideal for young learners! The vocabulary in this course will be learned through exaggerated facial expressions, TPR (total physical response), pictures, games, and props to help your child make associations between the new words and their meaning. Of course, I will clarify in English if needed and use some English to explain grammar concepts when necessary. By limiting the use of English in the classroom your child will have a more natural understanding of the words. I will speak slowly and clearly and model sentence frames and vocabulary for the student. After modeling the sentence frames we will practice. I keep my classes small so that every child in attendance has plenty of opportunities to practice the new vocabulary and build their confidence in a small class environment. The themes for the classes are as follows: Week 1 (Lessons held on Tuesday and Wednesday) Topics for lessons 1-2: Hello- Conversation in the context of greeting people in different ways. What’s your name? -Introducing yourself, and exchanging names. How are you? -Discuss how you are feeling. Goodbye! -Choose appropriate phrases for the situation. Week 2 (Lessons held on Tuesday and Wednesday) Topics for lessons 3-4: Numbers and Shapes. Classes will be interactive and fun to capture students' interest in learning Spanish and keep them motivated throughout the lessons.

All students will be muted when needed, to minimize background noise. Please ensure to spend some time with your learner, teaching them the mute and unmute features as I am unable to unmute them. Or I ask that you sit with your learner in order to provide that support. I want to make sure every learner gets a chance to speak and ask questions when it is their turn.
