In this lesson, we will learn about polar bears; where they live, what they eat, what their environment is like. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas as we explore the learning slides together. Before class begins, children will draw their polar bears with the teacher guiding them along. The learners will need white, gray or blue paper, markers, crayons and/or pencils of their choice. Parents or caregivers may need to help their learner during the craft section. The children are encouraged to color and decorate their polar bear as we go through the lesson together. Towards the end of class, everyone will have the opportunity to show off their polar bears!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from University of Phoenix
Hello Parents and Students! My name is Jennifer. I have always loved children and knew that I wanted to teach children from a young age. I started my career as a preschool teacher. Later, as I completed my education, I began teaching all ages, even adult learners! During the pandemic, I devoted my time and energy on teaching ESL students online and from there, I discovered Outschool. Currently, I am a first-grade teacher at a Charter school. All in all, I have been teaching for 30 years!
My teaching philosophy is to teach children subjects that they are interested in and that is what makes Outschool so great! When children are excited about the topic, they learn without even realizing it! Teaching this way helps me to engage learners, make the process fun and exciting, and meet our learning goals of the class. This is also why I do not mute students; I believe children should be free to express their thoughts and ask questions. Of course, I will encourage taking turns and raising hands, but children do sometimes forget, especially the younger ones.
Finally, a little about me. I live near the ocean and love the year around sunny weather! I enjoy swimming, snorkeling and relaxing with a good book in my beach chair. I have a cat, a turtle, and enjoy spending time with my 8 year old niece.
