In this ongoing class, students will learn all about the numbers 1-10. We will begin class by counting to 10 together (using our fingers), then talk about the new number of the day. Each child will be asked to bring that many items to class each day (smaller items would be best so that they can put in front of them and count (blocks, beans, etc.). Each child will have a chance to count their items aloud to their classmates (learning to point and count). After counting, we will work up to writing the number. We will first build the number with playdoh and then trace it on the same sheet with different colors to create a number rainbow. After building and tracing, I will encourage them to write it on their own. No worries if they are still having trouble writing them, I will send an extra tracing activity for home use. After working on writing, we will then do an identifying and quantity activity sheet. At the end of class, the students will find the correct number on their "color in the number" sheet and draw that many items in each box. ***Optional for at Home: Each day the students will color in a circle with the number of the day. At the end of the 10 numbers, they can cut out all of the circles and create their own number caterpillar.*** Also, I will send tracing sheets for extra practice.
