In this 30 minute class, student will identify and examine the life of African-American explorer, Matthew Henson. He was an important polar explorer and adventurer that helped to change the face of North American polar exploration. This class is excellent as a supplement for science, social studies, and African-American history.. Students will hear about Matthew Henson's life from his birth in Baltimore, Maryland, to his adventures to the North Pole. The class will end with a Q & A review activity.
