US Grade 3 - 6
In this one-time class we will dive into Ancient Rome, including learning about various key figures, events, mythology, and the Roman legacy. I will use slides, timelines, discussion, and a game to bring a better understanding to Ancient Rome, and after class is over, I will upload printables to the classroom for the learning to continue after class. Our class will structured with a short introductory time, teaching and discussion time, followed by a game. Should the learner led discussion go long... which is amazing... I will give learners access to the game after class! Why take this class? I like to approach learning from multiple perspectives. I want learners to enjoy learning and feel comfortable with their ideas. Using reading, audio and visual aids, printables, discussion, and hands-on learning, allows learners to experience what they are learning, not just remember what was put in front of them. My goal is for learners to learn and have fun while doing it, in hopes that they simply fall in love with learning. What is the difference between this and the other Ancient Roman class you have listed? This class is a one-time class that requires no homework outside of class. My other Ancient Rome class is a 5 week class that offers much of the same information as this one, because Ancient Rome is simply Ancient Rome, however, it also has several in-class activities (crafts), requires reading outside of class, and has a class long project that builds off of each week. In my opinion, both are great! This one-time class could be a great introduction or refresher class, while the 5 week class could be used as a more in depth or introduction class. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Ages or grades of learners- This class is designed to allow for students of various ages to participate, however, I would say the average range is 8-12. I have had learners outside this range, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Books required- No books are needed or required

Parental Guidance
Multiple Roman gods, gladiatorial battles, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and the death of Julius Caeser... will be discussed. These could be sensitive subjects for some, however, the topics are discussed in an age appropriate way. Also, the art work of Sandro Botticelli, The Birth of Venus, is briefly (approx. 2 seconds) shown. This depicts Venus nude on a clamshell, though most of her is covered by her hair or hands.
Should we use Kahoot, which is a game, learners will not need to have an account or browse online. I will give them a link to a private trivia style game that can be played by the class. I am a certified teacher on Kahoot.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a teacher on Outschool since 2020 and I teach on 2 additional online platforms. I have a biology background, however, I studied US and World History for 3 years in college, as well as 2 years of Chinese. I have also trained in a non-credited format, for many years, with an author and speaker who specializes in teaching children character qualities.
I have always enjoyed teaching. My first teaching position was in Moscow, Russia, teaching English as a second language. Since then, I’ve taught in various settings which include a cooperative, a preschool, and as a tutor in the areas of math, science, and English. I also am a homeschool mom!
I have taught this class to different groups at a cooperative, for both lower and upper elementary students. I enjoy teaching a subject or principle and including different areas of study along with the original idea.
