Class Experience

Students will learn the basics of 3D animation by making their own cool short animations using Blender, a free 3D software program. This class is for beginners who have basic computer skills and feel comfortable with a mouse and keyboard and find different menus in a program and are excited to animate something cool each week. Students will be provided with a new 3D scene each week and will learn about animation, lighting, setting up a camera, animation modifiers, setting keyframes for animation walk cycles, and so much more.

The goal of each class is to make a short, simple animation that students can share with their friends and family.

Students will receive individualized instruction as needed and are encouraged to use their creativity to make each animation their own.

Students will need a semi-new computer (something from the last 5 years) a 2 monitors or devices to view the zoom class as their main screen will be used for Blender (the 3d animation program), a mouse, and a keyboard, and to download a free copy of Blender.

Students MUST download and install Blender before the first day of class. If you have problems installing please send me a message on Outschool and I will try to help.

Note: Any student that arrives more than 15 minutes late will NOT be allowed to enter class, as late

Hi, my name is Christopher Walls.

I believe learning should be fun, interactive, and engaging. Classes should be hands-on.

I am a professional 3D modeler and teach ESL online. I have been working as a 3D modeler for over 13 years. I work for a company that makes air traffic control simulators. I get to make video games that train and educate people I love it so much. I have always had a passion for video games and making cool things I am excited to share my knowledge with others who want to make cool things.

I have been working with kids in some capacity for most of my life. I have worked as a summer camp counselor for over 10 years. In college I volunteered at a local high school where I taught students how to use photoshop, make websites and 3D models. I have 3 years of experience teaching online as an English teacher to foreign students.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida (2005) with a BA in Digital Media and a Masters Degree (2007) in Modeling and Simulation.
