Hello, I am Ms. White, I have over 30 years’ experience as a licensed teacher. I have a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. I am a certified Orton-Gillingham instructor and follow the Orton-Gillingham approach of multi-sensory instruction that is engaging and hands-on. I believe children learn best when teachers start with the most basic elements of sounds and letters and build on those. I strive to teach each element of reading sequentially to ensure student success. Students will learn through writing, reading, and practicing concepts. Each of my lessons will include picture books and activities that help teach the concepts we are learning.
Each concept taught the learner will be given a decodable reader to practice reading. The decodable readers are short stories and will focus only on the sounds the learner can read independently. There may be additional practice pages as needed.
Small white board and marker. For the first lesson they will need a bag of Cheetos.
The learner’s progress will be through weekly observations of their participation in writing and reading based on the digraphs ch, sh, th, wh and sh..
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
