In this ongoing class, readers will use song, stories, games, writing, social and listening skills while building their reading confidence using blends, digraphs and "r" controlled word families.

Class Experience
If your child has a strong grasp of short vowel words, and is growing in their reading abilities, then this will be a great fit to build skills and confidence on their reading journey. *This class is also a great supplement or reinforcement for preschool, Kindergarten or early Elementary reading skills.* Each class includes: *A song to introduce the week’s word family *Many colorful slides to keep the class engaged as we practice reading *Multiple turns for each student and whole-class...
Students will: *practice reading and building blend, digraph and "r" dominant words *use auditory and visual discrimination to identify our word family words *practice their reading, writing, sound blending and social skills *grow in confidence and independence in relation to their reading *have a great time as their reading skills develop!
For 23 years I was a 3-6 Montessori teacher and I was able to guide children from sound acquisition through word building, reading, writing, and beyond. I love to integrate songs, games and a bit of silliness into my classes to make learning fun. I let the children know that "mistakes are how you learn" and that they should never be afraid to try!
There is no required homework, although worksheets to accompany class concepts/content will be available to families. Practice outside of class is optional and should follow the child's lead and interest.
Children may bring printed worksheets (to be provided) to class or may use a whiteboard, pencil and paper or just write in the air if they would like. If your family is unable to print the paper, your child may use the options above. No problem at all!
