Description
Class Experience
Classes will be scheduled 5 days apart: Class one: In this class we will learn how to grow seeds into nutritious food. We will begin with a presentation to learn the health benefits of sprouts and they can be considered a survival food. We will also learn what to expect in seed growth for each of the five days. Learner will be provided step by step instructions to care for the seeds each day. Learner will watch them grow and document what they observe each day. In class, the learner will...
Learners will grow their own sprouted seeds. The goal is to grow seeds, understand what is taking place in the growing process, and to have the ability to grown their own highly nutritious food safely.
The learner will have a check sheet to care for the seeds as they grow. If the learner chooses they can use a worksheet to document the growing experiences in words or by drawing.
Supplies are readily available 1. Mason jar with it's ring. 2. The jar will require screen like materials such as cheese cloth, muslin fabric, or a square of nylon screen. The material should be cut to fit the jar ring. The material will need to be clean and food safe. 3. Organic seeds such as lentils, alfalfa, mung beans, or broccoli sprouts. Please see the attached document for additional directions. 4. Water and a towel.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is not an assessment for this class.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
