Let's Go on an Animal Exercise Adventure!

20 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this fun movement class for young learners, we will follow a slideshow of animals doing unexpected, funny, or interesting things. We will run, stomp, jump, sneak, and imitate a variety of animal movements to see the outcome. I will enthusiastically demonstrate the movements in real time and provide specific instructions as well as encouragement. The goal is to get moving and practice gross motor skills while being silly and having fun together. We will play a "This or That" game where we each choose our favorite animal and copy that animal's movements. There will also be a fun trivia game where we answer by moving like the correct animal. I will guide the class by telling which exercises to do while following the animals on the slideshow. Students need unobstructed space with no tripping hazards as we will be moving around a lot! Also be sure your learner has water on hand - we'll be getting a workout!
Learning Goals
Students will learn that working out can be fun! They will also increase physical fitness and stamina.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Angie. For the past four years, I’ve taught English online while providing home education to my son who is currently a 5th grader. I have a master’s degree in social work and have also taken three years of doctorate level courses in pursuit of a PhD in Early Childhood Education. For several years, I taught child development classes to aspiring teachers at the collegiate level. In my career, I’ve also been a child and family therapist, helping children and their families tackle emotional and mental health concerns. I’ve worked with children in many capacities and am passionate about helping students learn and thrive in a variety of ways. I strongly believe learning should be fun, and I strive to always create an upbeat, positive learning environment. Who says you can’t learn and be silly at the same time?!
Outside of teaching, my hobbies include photography, martial arts, reading, and gaming with my family. I live at the beach in Florida with my husband Erick (also an Outschool teacher!), our science-loving son, and our cuddly cat.
If you would like to sign up for a class but the listed times don't work with your learner's schedule, please send me a message stating the class(es) you'd like to book as well as dates and times that work for you. I will do my best to accommodate scheduling requests.
