Hello, I am Miss Shelagh, I will teach children Mindfulness, by taking them on an adventure, on a "Magic Carpet" ride. Come and join friends around the world, becoming one with self through meditation. After a greeting and introductions, I will ring a meditation bell to get the children to focus to the sound and how it makes them feel. Then we will find a peaceful place to sit or lay down on our "Magic Carpet" to start our adventure. I will guide the children through a guided visualization that will last about 3-5 minutes. I will then have them share their experiences. At the end of the class I will ring the meditation bell followed by a kind word. The children will all be interacting with me directly, and with each other during sharing-time. There is no prior experience in mindfulness and meditation needed, the children will learn as we go. Your child will be able to self-regulate their emotions and behavior to achieve peace of mind. They will understand it is ok to have emotions, especially difficult ones, and it will teach them to deal with sensations trough breathing and grounding technics. They will be able to focus on their breath, sounds, senses, and sensations in the body, then focus on one sensation. Each class I teach has a different adventure on the "Magic Carpet" of mindfulness for your children. - A trip to a meadow filled with beautiful wildflowers - A trip into the sky?outer space - A trip to the beach/ocean - A trip to the mountains - A trip to your favorite place There is a lot of pressure to interact socially, to build self-respect and respect others, and peer interaction. By giving them a couple of moments of peace through their imagination, they will feel the release of stressful moments.
Learning Goals
Many Children are stressed, anxious, insecure, and have little coping skills. Children will learn through the practice of mindfulness to regulate their emotions.
The benefit of Mindfulness in Children are:

3. Mindfulness helps with social interaction and social relationships
4. Mindfulness is an invaluable set of skills for life.

A comfortable place to lay down and pretend being on a "Magic Carpet" (Yoga Mat, Blanket or Bed).
