Class Experience

Come along while we go ice fishing and practice speaking and writing numbers! We will practice our numbers while having fun learning about ice fishing.
We will practice speaking and writing numbers 11-20. Then we will have fun "Fishing" for numbers (and fish). Through out the class we will learn about how people ice fish and what kind of fish can be caught in Northern Wisconsin.
We will then extend by practicing counting backwards and skip counting if time allows.
Students can be beginner but some knowledge of numbers would be helpful!

The only thing required is a piece of paper and something to practice writing numbers with. I have attached worksheets that can be printed off to practice numbers at home.

Students are encouraged to bring warm clothes (hats or mittens) and a pretend fishing pole (with a little imagination a wooden spoon or any toy will work)!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Alyssa and I enjoy spending time outside. I love sharing my interest of the outdoors and animals with my students! I’m also passionate about everything to do with the upper Midwest and The Great Lakes. I also love music and learning about music. I have spent many years as a pianist, organist and clarinetist. My school background is also in Music.
My classes will draw on these interests while we also learn other skills such as reading and writing in the classroom.
I have over 5 years experience giving one on one Piano and Clarinet lessons. I also have over 2 years of experience teaching ESL classes.
I have a Bachelors Degree from DePauw University in General Music. I am also trained as a Veterinary Assistant in both small and large animals. My background also includes growing up on a farm in Northern Wisconsin where I have spent many years exploring the lakes and the woods of the Mid-west.
I find drawing from other passions can help students learn fundamentals in the classroom. I also think that movement and music can help students with flow as well as remembering proper pronunciation and meaning.
I have a passion for traveling and am currently saving up to renovate a camper van and hit the road for a trip around North America.
