Let's Get Thinking: Critical Thinking Outside The Box Flex Class B1+ CEFR
What's included
Class Experience
Critical thinking is a set of skills and habits of mind, including the ability to define a problem, identify assumptions, analyze ideas, and reason critically, and then systematically list different possible causes, create plausible solutions, or evaluate its correctness using logical reasoning. It also includes the ability to make creative connections between ideas from different disciplines. In this flex course, we will use our thinking hats to look at different scenarios in different ways. We will use a variety of teaching methods such as questioning to think outside the box. Each week has a different focus and aims to engage learners through a variety of activities such as puzzles, find something, activity sheets, interaction in the classroom, discussion and critical thinking challenges. Week 1 - Life of Chocolate Week 2 - Upside Down Week 3 - Zero Gravity Week 4 - No School Week 5 - Life Without Internet Week 6 - Types of Transport Each week will include a teaching video introducing the theme of the week, the assignments will be set and posted to the classroom, and learners will be asked to do a variety of tasks each week. A flex course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner. After weekly lessons, students can collaborate with their peers by replying to the announcements and lesson postings in the Outschool classroom. Participation will include the Introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Classroom. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher. Participation in assignments allows students to practise and reinforce learning. This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary. Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays. The videos will be available for the length of the course. Please note, some of the tasks involve reading and writing. This course is taught by Teacher Sam. We look forward to being part of your learning journey!
