This is a class 4 week class is 3x a week/30 minute that introduces the first 13 letters using animals, calendar time focusing on numbers, and fun poetry, and seasonal books for young learners!

Hi everyone! This is a class for those who are either preparing to start kindergarten or need reinforcement with letters, sounds and numbers in the English language. This 30 minute/3x week class will help students with the recognition of letters, sounds and numbers, while having fun with the written word through poetry and literature. In 'Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! Vol.1' we will began with the first 13 letters of the alphabet, covering 3-4 letters a week/ for 4 weeks. Each class will begin with a review, then we will introduce a new letter, along with time for learning about the calendar, numbers and literature. During each class I will be using a white board to help instruct with letters and numbers. Each child needs a notebook with a divider for Language and Math of their own. In this class we will be using verbal, written, and movement during our learning time. Let's take a snap shot look at the next 4 weeks. -Week 1- Introductions, class rules, and meet two of my 'letter animals'. Introduction of letters A,B,C. We will learn fun motions to go with each letter. Next is calendar time which is a way of learning months, days, and counting in an interactive way. We will then take time to focus on numbers 1 and 2 using our whiteboards for name and quantity. Then it is time to began to learn an animal poem, and hear a seasonal book. Week 2- Review letters & numbers from previous class. Introduction of the letters D,E,F Share calendar time together. Discover additional numbers & fun children's literature and poetry. Week 3- Review letters & numbers covered in previous classes. Introduction of the letters G,H,I,J Share calendar time together. Discover additional numbers & fun children's literature and poetry. Week 4- Review letters & numbers covered in previous classes. Introduction of the letters K,L,M. Share calendar time together. Discover additional numbers & fun literature and poetry. This class is meant to help students build confidence and become prepared for their next level of learning. I can't wait to see you in my class!

Hello, my name is Tricia Nichols. I am so excited to be teaching on Out School! The classes I will be offering will bring enrichment and preparation to a student’s formal education.
I have been involved in teaching for over 25 years. I am a certified teacher with BA degree in education K-8, with a major in English and an endorsement in Early Childhood education.
I believe children should have a teacher that recognizes their potential and seeks that out for each individual student. I believe that my passion and enthusiasm for teaching along with caring for each student, helps to motivate children in their educational journey. And this will set them on a positive course for every ‘next’ exciting, learning opportunity!
In my teaching experiences I have used my degree and love for teaching in variety of different avenues through teaching clubs, Sunday school, pre-school, summer school, tutoring, homeschooling my two daughters and traditionally in both the public and charter school system.
Besides my love for teaching. I enjoy running with my two dogs and helping my husband with our two horses and two donkeys.
