This class is intended to help your child with the basic foundational skills for Kindergarten. At the beginning of each class, we will engage in calendar skills by identifying the day of the week, the month, and the weather. Your child will learn a variety of songs to help him/her learn the days of the week and the months of the year. We will work on literacy skills including letters, sounds, and rhyming. We will practice math skills including number identification, basic counting, shapes, and colors. We will also work on listening, turn taking, sharing, and basic rules and routines of a classroom. I look forward to including song, dance, and movement in our daily lessons to keep your child focused and engaged.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic calendar skills including the months of the year and the days of the week. We will learn songs and motions to learn these skills. Students will learn learn letters, sounds and work on rhyming. We will cover basic math skills such as number identification, counting, colors, shapes and patterns.

Hello! My name is Teacher Tara! I am so excited to meet your child and get him/her ready for Kindergarten! I am a Kindergarten teacher entering my 14th year of teaching. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. I believe it's very important that children are prepared with the foundational skills upon entering Kindergarten. It is important that children entering Kindergarten have been exposed to calendar skills, letters, numbers, shapes, colors, as well as fine and gross motor skills. The lessons I plan to develop will cover these skills in my daily classes. We will also focus on listening and turn taking. Song, dance, and movement will be used to keep the students focused and engaged. The classes will be ongoing, but children can pop in and out of the classes as they please. I have a wonderful husband and we enjoy being outdoors and playing with our dog charcoal lab, Jax!
