Let's learn to paint a vases of flowers, trees, landscapes and still lifes in a fun way! Using a paper towel, some acrylic paints, a canvas board, some water and maybe a brush, we will create a big mess and then turn it into a beautiful vase of flowers. Students will learn a little color theory, a little about capturing light in a painting, and some negative space painting. Note: This class will cancel for less than 2 learners. Students will be able to use a color wheel to choose colors for their project. Students will learn what negative space painting is and how to use it to create art. Students will experience imagining where the light is coming from in a painting and how to add shadows to create more realism.
A flat surface protected with wax paper or freezer paper (shiny side up!) A set of acrylic paint colors including black and white An 8x10 (inch) or 9X12 (inch) or similar size canvas board for each class (6 total) Paper towels--LOTS :) A set of foam brushes of assorted sizes. A container of water.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
