In this camp we will cover: Day 1: How to Plant a Seed: On the 1st day of the camp students will learn how to plant seeds in egg cartons or a small container. They will use the rest of the week to learn about how to take care of their new plant! Day 2: What a Plant Needs: On the 2nd day of camp students will learn about the necessities of plants to germinate, grow and stay healthy such as sun, water and soil! Day 3: Fruits and Vegetables: In the 3rd day of class students will share which vegetables or fruits they have planted and learn the Spanish vocabulary for them. Day 4: How to Take Care of Your Plant: On the 4th day of class students will learn how to continue to care for their plant once the seed has germinated. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I am a creative, fun and patient Environmental Educator, Spanish and English teacher, and certified Permaculture designer. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, French and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) as well as a TESOL certification I received in Thailand before teaching there for a year. I am a former Peace Corps volunteer and spent four years in Mexico as an Environmental Education volunteer working with kids in rural schools. I have also worked as an online English teacher for over a year. Teaching kids is truly my greatest joy!
I am passionate about the environment and love teaching kids about composts, gardens, energy, and climate change! I am also fluent in Spanish and enjoy teaching fun vocabulary and introductory conversation classes. I also love working with kids on life skills such as public speaking and confidence building and try to incorporate them as much as possible in my classes.
When I'm not teaching you can find me embroidering, reading mystery books, writing and tending to my vegetable garden. I can't wait to meet you, let's learn something fun together!
