Class Experience

In this class students will be taught through the zoom platform and video how to make their own pizza dough, sauce and put the ingredients together to make their own pizzas.
I teach with a tried and true process that is similar to the gradual release model used in schools. I give step by step instructions that are easy for the students to understand, giving time for them to keep pace.
I have a document camera that allows students to see me, and the processes.
We will begin by preheating our ovens, making our dough, then while it rises make our own simple pizza sauce. We will then construct our pizzas with ingredients chosen by each student (cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, ham, pineapple, onion, green peppers, olives, etc). We will allow them to bake. While baking if time permits we will have "discussion" time where we can talk about the origin of pizza and some of the adaptations we might make in future recipes.

As this is a cooking class parents may want to be present in the kitchen, students will need to use basic knife skills and hot ovens/stoves.
Students are welcome to use gluten free flour in the recipe, if parents message ahead of time I will add a recipe for a good gluten free pizza crust.
Depending on time and class size our finished product may not be done until after the lesson finishes. Make sure to take those pizzas out of the oven! =)
