Class Experience

In this two day class students will learn how to bake and frost a coconut cake from scratch. I teach using "tell, show, do, feedback" which is similar to the gradual release model used in schools. On the first day students will learn how to mix their ingredients for the cake and frosting, and bake the cake. We will allow the cake to cool overnight. On day two we will frost our cakes and talk about adaptations, ie what other flavors/options could we do with a standard white cake base? How can we decorate it?
Students don't need any prior cooking/baking experience. Come join us for cake!

Bachelor's Degree from Florida Gulf Coast University
Hello & Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in my classes and in me. I have my Bachelor's of Art: Fine Art from Florida Gulf Coast University, go Eagles! After four years of teaching visual arts and three years of teaching online, I am excited for every opportunity to teach young learners and help them grow. My classroom is one that is open and friendly, accepting of everyone regardless of skill level or knowledge, promotes creativity, and inspires learners to continue to learn. I love that "aha" moment when something we are learning clicks and a students eyes light up.

I am open to creating classes to meet the needs of students. Share your excitement and ideas! I love all medium: drawing, painting, sculpting, fiber arts and digital design. I also love cooking from scratch.

I try to tie in the history of the arts as I teach so that it builds a background for what we are learning. If we are learning about Surrealism, we might digitally travel to Spain and learn about the history of Salvador Dali and tour his museum. Then we will create a dream journal and our own artistic creations based on the style of the movement. I want my classes to inspire students of all ages to create.

I have always had a passion for the arts, traveling and gaming. I have been a gamer and have enjoyed tabletop games like GURPS and D&D, as well as online platforms like World of Warcraft and Asheron's Call.

I hope to have the opportunity to meet your learner soon! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
