Class Experience
Math skills into practice by measuring ingredients Following directions Getting familiar in the kitchen to create meals
Each week I will post the recipes and ingredients that will be needed for class. If your learner has any food sensitivities you can substitute ingredients to dairy free, egg free, gluten free alternatives while they are making the meals. **alternative ingredients for special diets** Week 1: Breakfast— pancakes, eggs, bacon Pancake mix, water, bowl, spoons, measuring cup, skillet, spatula, eggs, milk, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, bacon, baking tray, aluminum foil, cooking spray, oven mitt, mixing spoon, plate, fork Week 2: Lunch— cheesy turkey bagel with soup Bagel, turkey, shredded and sliced cheese, garlic seasoning, can of soup of your choice, toaster oven, aluminum foil, cooking spray, plate, bowl, small pot, stirring spoon, water, spoon, stove, oven mitt Week 3: Dinner— pasta with meat sauce and garlic bread Your choice of pasta noodles (I like bow tie), medium pot, water, salt, stirring slotted spoon, strainer, marinara sauce, half pound ground beef or chicken, small pot, small skillet, spatula, toaster oven, aluminum foil, cooking spray, either garlic toast, breadsticks or garlic knots whichever you like best, plate, fork, spoon, stove
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be cooking in the kitchen so that means adult supervision and help is recommended for use of the stove, oven, toaster oven, etc. Especially with younger learners 5 or 6, I recommend an adult helper in the kitchen in the background off camera. If kids have any food allergies or sensitivities to dairy, gluten, soy, egg, etc please use alternative ingredients to your child’s allergy or sensitivity.
