Description

Class Experience

Students will understand and be able to explain formation and classification of different rock and mineral types. Students will understand how the types of rocks are linked via the rock cycle. Students will be able to explain the Theory of Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics. Students will learn about how the tectonic plates interact with each other and create landforms such as mountains and volcanoes, as well as tectonic events like earthquakes.
I have a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and studied geological and geographical topics extensively in my undergraduate studies. I have experience teaching these topics in a traditional school setting and am a qualified geography and general sciences teacher. Geology was an intense passion of mine long before my university studies, and I still continue to educate myself and stay up to date on advances in the field.
Each week, students will be assigned individual homework assignments to complete after watching the pre-recorded videos and/or exploring the info packets provided. Students should expect to spend ~2 hours per week TOTAL, including watching videos, exploring info packets, and completing homework assignments.
All materials will be supplied by myself, including weekly pre-recorded videos and a PDF info packet (including notes, diagrams and photos, questions, and a weekly homework assignment).
If students submit their weekly homework assignments on time, they will receive a grade for each individual assignment. Each assignment will be marked out of a certain number of total marks (indicated clearly in the students' info packets).
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
