Students will learn a simple and effective way to draw “The Child,” also known as Baby Yoda, from “The Mandalorian” (Star Wars) series. The focus will be on his face and head. The teacher and the students will draw together as he guides them through a step-by-step process. Students will need a pencil; a good eraser (separate from the pencil and preferably smudge-resistant); a sketch pad or a small pack of letter-size, unlined white paper; a smooth, flat drawing surface; and a ruler or something that has a safe, straight edge and is easy to handle. Teacher expertise and credentials
Doctoral Degree in English from Morgan State University
I have been drawing since I was a toddler watching re-runs of the funny Batman TV series (way before my time) and trying to imitate what I saw. BAM! BIFF! KA-POW! I also imitated the drawings in a giant-size Batman coloring book that was just as tall as I was. As I got older, I drew Transformers, superheroes, and other characters. I took art classes in high school and college. Later, I taught a basic drawing workshop as part of the weekend and summer activities for an Upward Bound program.
I have more than 10 years of teaching experience. I have taught at the high school and college levels, and I have served as an academic counselor. In addition, I ran an afterschool homework center and summer academic enrichment program for grades K-5 for a year. Therefore, I have worked with small children, pre-teens, teens, and adults successfully.
