We will get warmed up by starting class with a Roll a Robot Dice Drawing Game (file included) that will help us all see that drawing robots is about stacking and layering simple shapes. (Your student can play this game again and again after class - the robot comes out differently each time!) Next we will all take turns picking shapes as we build another robot together and stretch our imaginations and confidence a bit further. Finally we’ll each draw our very own robots and take turns showing them off and discussing what we think their jobs and names might be. This will be a fun and easy going, interactive class. Perfect for students interested in robots or for students looking to gain confidence in their drawing skills. Robots are a wonderful subject for building drawing confidence, since there is no wrong way to draw a robot! Enrolled students will also receive a bonus robot coloring page.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, friends! My name is Amy Sloan and I am an artist and a teacher. My degree may be in Photojournalism, but it’s painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting that I adore and seek to share with art lovers of all ages!
My teaching philosophy mirrors that of the late, great Bob Ross, who helped inspire my own growth mindset by teaching that there are no mistakes in art, only happy accidents.
I currently teach arts and crafts in an after school/summer camp program for middle school students. I have further experience teaching jewelry making and illustration to both children and adults. And I am also the mother of a budding kindergarten artist!
I have been teaching on Outschool for over a year now and I love meeting new friends from around the globe and sharing what I know with them. I can’t wait to share all of my artistic tips and tricks with your student! Let’s make something beautiful!
