Class Experience
Do you like drawing people but have difficulty with features like hands, eyes, noses, mouths, ears, or hair? Do you want a place where you can practice, get advice, or be challenged in your portrait drawing skills? Come join as each week we will draw a different feature together using a provided reference photo. (*Please note that we do not draw an entire face.) Through practice and instruction, learners will improve their observation, shading, and blending techniques in pencil drawing....
Students will improve their pencil shading and blending skills while learning drawing techniques on difficult human features: hands, ears, eyes, noses, mouths, and hair. They will learn about the importance and role of light and how to create the subtle shadows and highlights that bring portraits to life.
The teacher has been pencil drawing in a realism style for over 20 years. She sells hand-drawn pet portraits, but has been commissioned to draw human portraits as well.
-Pencil set (or HB pencil) -Sketchpad or printer paper -Eraser -Pencil sharpener -Blending stump (or Q-tips or tissue) -Provided reference photo (either printed or on another device) -*Mechanical pencil (*optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
