In this one-time class students will paint colorful Koi fish swimming as we learn about warm and cool colors. I will start of by showing my sample and explaining what we will be doing and I will show pictures of real Koi fish With my guidance students will sketch 2 large Koi with a pencil Next students will add details...fins, eyes, markings At this point student will choose a cool color/s for their water (blue, turquoise, purple and/or green) and paint Next students will choose a warm color for their Koi (red, yellow, orange or pink) and paint them plus add eyes We will finish off by painting in some seaweed Note: Please do not use printer/copy paper...children are disappointed when their work is floppy and doesn't hold up to painting. If you are unable to get a watercolor pad then mixed media would be another choice. A drawing paper pad, though not meant for painting could work as the paper is a little sturdier.
