In this one time class we will learn how to draw Totoro - the forrest spirit animal from the much loved Studio Ghibli anime movie 'My Neighbour Totoro'. Don't worry if you don't know the character Totoro - in the lesson we will watch a short introductory clip of Totoro in action from the movie. This is a great way to introduce Totoro and get everyone excited about recreating him at home. We will then go through step by step instructions on how to draw Totoro with discussion throughout about animals, anime, manga and drawing. I like to use slides to demonstrate how to draw and give a brief background about where Totoro comes from and what his characteristics are. My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well and pointing out where they are going wrong. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. The students will need some plain paper, a drawing pencil, eraser and coloured pens or pencils, including the colour black. They are welcome to use paints also if they would like to colour in with those. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art, anime, animals and how to draw! Note: Please do not book this lesson if you are already booked into my 'Animals of Anime' ongoing class as this is the same material but in a one time lesson format.
