Class Experience

In this one-time class students will learn about the famous Japanese Artist Takashi Murakami, along with a tutorial and practical lesson on how to make a flower drawing like his with step by step instructions. They will learn different techniques to achieve his drawing style using coloured pens and bold lines. We will first look at some paintings and art works by Takashi Murakami, discussing why we like them and what images he likes to use. Then we will practice how to draw in his style and produce a unique and vibrant flower drawing. My teaching style is very enthusiastic and I like to encourage my students by praising what they are doing well and pointing out where they are going wrong. The best way to learn is through doing and so my lesson will be very interactive and engaging. The students will need some plain paper, a pencil, a black marker pen and coloured pens, pencils, crayons or paints including at least three colours minimum. No required experience or knowledge is needed for this class. Just a joy and curious attitude about art and how to draw!

Hello! My name is Harriet Horner and I am from London in the UK. I teach creative classes, including interesting and dynamic art classes, along with art history classes. They including a lot of making and creating from the students side and most importantly they are very fun!

I have a bachelors degree in Fine Art from University of the Arts London and have worked with the acclaimed artist Anish Kapoor for over 3 years. I also have my own art studio and have exhibited my art work around London and in the Venice Biennale! As well as my colourful art background I have also obtained a TEFL and have been teaching English online to foreign students from the ages of 5 - 12. I love it! But I cant wait to combine my love of art with my love of teaching and believe that my enthusiasm and knowledge in the subject will bring a great learning experience to my students.

I believe the best way to learn is through doing so I always encourage my students to get involved, get stuck in and trust in the process! I love to interact with my students and get to know them in the lessons. I am an encouraging, enthusiastic and patient teacher who will give my students the tools they need to let their creativity flow and positive reinforcement to help boost their confidence in their own creative skillset.
