45 mins in-class hoursHomework
Students will be encouraged to practice what they learned in the live meeting. They will also be encouraged to add color after class since we mainly focus on drawing as many items as time will allow during class.Assessment
Informal and ongoing assessment will take place throughout the meeting. Students constantly receive feedback on their works of art.Class Experience
In this introductory class, we will explore several simple options for drawing representations of doughnuts. I love to build drawing skills through the use of fun and popular food items as subject matter. We will begin with the most basic versions and make our way up to slightly more advanced versions (based on comfort level). This class will focus heavily on the use of shapes along with familiar symbols to create our finished products. I will demonstrate step by step during the live class where students will be able to ask questions and share ideas. Learners will only need a pencil and some plain practice paper or a sketchbook. No coloring materials are required as we will focus on the drawing portion. Coloring the finished drawings after the meeting of our live class will be encouraged since I would like to demonstrate as many doughnut drawings as possible during our time together. Learners will also be encouraged to share their own ideas for new activities for our doughnut characters.
Learning Goals
Students will improve drawing skills through the use of basic geometric shapes and familiar symbols that are easy to form. Students will also reinforce an awareness of these geometric shapes and how we can recognize them in everyday objects.

After several years of teaching art and kindergarten, I noticed that many of my students share the same adoration for drawing fun foods and delectable desserts. At one point, I began to create directed drawing lessons on YouTube. The drawing content turned out to be very popular with young artists of various ages. I was delighted when students made requests for more "food item" drawings. This inspired me create more unique food designs and teach them step by step.
