Class Experience

In this private (one-to-one) drawing class, the student will learn a simple and fun way to draw a girl’s face in anime and manga. If your child loves anime or manga, this class is for her or him! The teacher and the students will draw together as he guides them through a simplified, step-by-step process.

This class is part of my drawing series, which includes the following classes:

Let's Draw Grogu AKA Baby Yoda
Let's Draw Kawaii
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Girl's Face
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Boy's Face
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Girl’s Body
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Boy’s Body
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Eye Styles
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Emotions
Let's Draw Anime and Manga: Various Topics
Let's Draw: Various Topics for Beginners

You may repeat my classes as many times as you like. No two completed drawings will be exactly the same. Some students draw just for fun while others are serious about practicing and improving their skills over time.

What are the advantages of taking a private, one-to-one drawing class? It is a more personalized experience. Generally, kids and their parents like having the teacher's undivided attention when it comes to a hands-on subject like drawing. As I check a student’s progress in a group class, there is no way to prevent classmates from seeing her or his work. That can be uncomfortable for the student since some kids do not catch on as quickly as others or draw as well as others. In a one-to-one class, students do not feel pressured to keep up with other students or compete with them.

I have been drawing since I was a toddler watching re-runs of the funny Batman TV series (way before my time) and trying to imitate what I saw. BAM! BIFF! KA-POW! I also imitated the drawings in a giant-size Batman coloring book that was just as tall as I was. As I got older, I drew Transformers, superheroes, and other characters. I took art classes in high school and college. Later, I taught a basic drawing workshop as part of the weekend and summer activities for an Upward Bound program.

I have more than 10 years of teaching experience. I have taught at the high school and college levels, and I have served as an academic counselor. In addition, I ran an afterschool homework center and summer academic enrichment program for grades K-5 for a year. Therefore, I have worked with small children, pre-teens, teens, and adults successfully.
