Class Experience

Animal lovers! Come join as each week we will chat and draw a different animal together using a provided reference photo. All skill levels are welcome!

The classes will be more casual and social in nature with the teacher being there to demonstrate, answer questions, and provide useful tips and techniques rather than give structured step-by-step instruction from start to finish. At the start of each class, we look at our reference photo together and find the basic geometrical shapes to sketch the general structure of the animal. The teacher provides tips on getting the proportions and layout as accurate as possible before adding details. A social atmosphere is encouraged as learners chat and ask questions while we draw together. (*Please note that the level of socialization varies greatly from class to class. Some groups are very quiet and shy, while others are filled with conversation as we draw. Feel free to message me to find the best fit for your learner).

At the end of each lesson, you can vote on next week's animal! Suggestions for future animals are also welcome. The teacher will be drawing with a graphite pencil set, but learners are welcome to use charcoal, colored pencils, or digital art if they prefer.

*Please note that everyone works at a different pace, and we often do not complete the entire animal during class. Rather, I try to focus on helping in the more difficult areas as requested by the learners, allowing them to finish their drawings on their own time.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their shading and blending while learning drawing techniques on different animal details like fur, feathers, eyes, and noses. They will learn to see and use basic geometrical shapes to sketch the structure of various animals.
