Do you love cats and drawing? I do too! Together, we will draw cute expressions on our cats, and then add some fun or funny situations for our cats to be in - a watering can, a flower pot, a box, a cat tower, or a tree. We will begin by using pencils to sketch. I will provide step by step instruction. I also show students more than one way to make the artwork, therefore giving the students decisions about their art process. Students will use a fine tip Sharpie marker to make bold details for the cat's face. Students will color their pictures using oil pastels, colored pencils, or watercolor paint. I will demonstrate my cat artwork with watercolors. Students can then choose to put their cats into any kind of fun or funny situation. Students can also choose what type of background they would like to make. My teaching style is relaxed. Students are free to use their imagination and make a drawing that is fun for them. I will guide students along and give feedback and recommendations. I will provide technical information on how to use art materials. At the end of class, all students will have a chance to show their artwork to me and to the group. I will give positive, encouraging feedback. My classes are safe places for students to try new techniques and experiment with art.

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.
I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.
My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
