Let's Do This! Learning Pre-Algebra With Ms. Holland, Algebra & Right Triangles
Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(1)
Completed by 3 learnersIn this multi-day class we will use algebraic concepts, like solving equations and simplifying expressions, to find the missing measurements in right triangles. This is a good introduction to skills that are used in geometry as well!

**UPDATE** The section put on the schedule for March 24 - May 5 was to accommodate the needs for one of my students. Any learners who can join us for that unusual section are welcome; however, other sections of this class will be taught once a week as stated in the description. I'm so excited to be able to offer this "Let's Do This" series of classes! *Once students have a firm grasp on the basics of math (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) it's time to kick it up a notch! ...
Students will learn how to use the Pythagorean Theorem and trigonometric ratios to find missing measures of right triangles. We will: -find square roots and squares of numbers -solve equations to find missing measurements -learn about applying trig ratios to find the missing measurement of a right triangle
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics as well as a Master's Degree in Education. With 20 years of experience teaching in the classroom coupled with 5 years of experience teaching online to students with varying abilities and needs, I feel extremely qualified to deliver this instruction to learners via Outschool. My love and dedication for Pre-Algebra stems from the knowledge that this is such a critical time for students to make the connections of elementary-level mathematics to higher-level thinking that will be key for success in courses such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry or Pre-Calculus (just to name a few).
No homework will be assigned, however, students will be encouraged to take notes and review the video as needed. Extra examples/supports can be uploaded to the classroom as needed.
Students should have a three-ring binder in order to keep track of assignments and notes each week. A calculator and graph paper would be nice items to have, however, when possible, I will suggest websites that may have the tools that a learner may need (example: online calculators).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will provide feedback to students during class time. Additional assessments can be provided as appropriate or upon request.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
