Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to solve two-step equations and find solutions for systems of equations. We will: -use inverse operations to solve equations -combine like terms to simplify expressions -use the addition method to solve systems of equations -(possibly) graph solutions for systems of equations
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics as well as a Master's Degree in Education. With 20 years of experience teaching in the classroom coupled with 5 years of experience teaching online to students with varying abilities and needs, I feel extremely qualified to deliver this instruction to learners via Outschool. My love and dedication for Pre-Algebra stems from the knowledge that this is such a critical time for students to make the connections of elementary-level mathematics to higher-level thinking that will be key for success in courses such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry or Pre-Calculus (just to name a few).
No homework will be assigned, however, students will be encouraged to take notes and review the video as needed. Extra examples/supports can be uploaded to the classroom as needed.
Students should have a three-ring binder in order to keep track of assignments and notes each week. A calculator and graph paper would be nice items to have, however, when possible, I will suggest websites that may have the tools that a learner may need (example: online calculators).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will provide feedback to students during class time. Additional assessments can be provided as appropriate or upon request.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
