1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 60 minute intro to royal icing class you will learn how to make basic royal icing. We will cover step by step how to measure the ingredients properly, mix ingredients, how to use a stand mixer, and how to apply royal icing by outlining and filling in the cookie (or practice sheets if you don't have sugar cookies prepared). Please see "Let's Bake Sugar Cookies" class to take first if you would like. At the start of the class we will introduce ourselves then get immediately started on how to measure ingredients properly. I will then walk everyone through step by step together how to make the icing, put icing in piping bags, color icing and decorate/flood (put icing on the cookie). I teach by showing you first so that you know exactly what to do. This process is very interactive and I welcome questions as they come up. This is an intro to royal icing class. If you have experience using royal icing and are ready to take your skill to the next level I recommend my 5 week flex class where we learn additional techniques for decorating.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to measure dry ingredients, mix royal icing with a stand (or hand) mixer, fill piping bags, and decorating our sugar cookies from our previous class (or you can prepare your own cookies ahead of time or practice decorating on the practice sheets).
