Class Experience

This is a great project to teach the fundamentals of amigurumi. What is amigurumi you ask? It is a Japanese word that means "a knit or crocheted stuffed animal". During our 6 weeks together, we will learn how to make at least four different types of crochet stitches as we prepare to make a very cute chicken. Students will leave with the confidence of how to make their very own amigurumi animals in the future. All along the project, we will be reading through corresponding crochet patterns so that we have a better understanding and are able to read it independently. I will use an additional camera focused on my hands as we work on the project together.

Basic experience with crochet is required. If you feel that you need more experience before taking this class, I suggest taking the "Learn How To Crochet" class, as well as the "Let's Crochet a Basic Amigurumi Ball" class It will give you everything you need to know.

Week-by-week breakdown:

Week 1: We will look over the pattern, what tools we will need and begin working on our chicken.

Week 2: Continue working on chicken head and body

Week 3: We will finish up the body and begin working on the wings.

Week 4: We will finish up the wings, and will begin working on the beak, tail feathers, and comb.

Week 5: We will continue to work on the beak, tail, and comb

Week 6:This week, we will finish up any last details to complete our chicken.

*Each week, we will work on the project, and may have some additional homework. All that will entail is finishing up with something we had begun in class.
