55 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this class, we will discuss strategies and share stories and ideas while playing Minecraft Java Edition. Students are highly encouraged to play Minecraft during class, but it's also okay if your learner prefers to only participate in discussion during class time. I will be playing in my own private server and sharing my screen so everyone can see and comment on what is happening. Students will be able to join me in the server during class if they would like. Please send me your child's username in a message after signing up so I can add them to the server. Only currently enrolled students will be allowed in the server for privacy and safety reasons. I will provide the server name to anyone in class who wants to join. If your learner prefers to play on their own during class, that's fine, too! We will be discussing many topics related to Minecraft including mining, farming, building, crafting, making potions, fighting, spells, weapons, mobs, biomes, the Nether, and more. Activities and discussions are student led. We will engage in many adventures, projects, and activities based on student interest. Some things we may do include building castles, making farms, using redstone, journeying to the Nether, fighting the Ender dragon, building villages, looking for treasure - whatever students are interested in doing! All experience levels are welcome. Minecraft Java Edition is played on PC/Mac. If your learner plays on iPad, XBox, PS, Switch, etc. then they are playing Bedrock Edition. Unfortunately, the two are not compatible. Please check to make sure your learner is playing on Java Edition so they can join the world where the other players are. Thank you! NOTES: - Students are encouraged to take class in a quiet room with headphones. If you have more than one learner, they will need to be in separate rooms or wearing headphones in order to prevent distracting echoes. - Students are encouraged to use two different devices during class - one for Zoom and one for Minecraft. (This is for ease of use for the student, but isn't required.) - If there are any issues with Minecraft servers, I will cancel class and issue a full refund. - If anyone has trouble logging on, I will set aside time to help that student individually. Parents may be asked to help with technical issues as well. - Although I encourage all students to be respectful of each other's goals and projects, I cannot guarantee that buildings will remain from week to week as many students will be using the server. I encourage students to use class time for socializing and learning tips and techniques rather than attempting long-term projects.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Erick. I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Furman University. I'm an online teacher, a martial arts instructor with black belts in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a business owner, and most recently, an aspiring author. I live at the beach in Florida with my wife (also an Outschool teacher!), our science-loving son, and our cuddly cat.
I believe learning should be fun and engaging and my teaching style definitely reflects that! My goal as a teacher is to inspire, empower, and entertain students while teaching things I'm passionate about - business, finance, martial arts, fitness, and video games. In my classes, be prepared for lots of laughter and silliness in addition to learning.
I hope to see you in the classroom!
