Description
Class Experience
Learners will use real world influences to discover the elements of art and design including line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space. Learners will explore why these elements are important to art practice and develop a method for documenting and maintaining creative brainstorming through the use of an inspiration journal.
Learners will be expected to complete weekly assignments, participate in group activities on nearpod and flipgrid, and share their drawings to the classroom with photo or video each week before new material is released. Learners who work more slowly can expect to spend more time in between lessons on their exercises.
Learners will want to have: A new 5-7 or 8x10 sketchbook Drawing items such as pencils erasers, rulers, pencil crayons, markers, etc. Access to magazine, photos (or photo copies) and found items plus glue and tape.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- Nearpod
- Flipgrid
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be expected to seek out materials in their lives such as old photos, magazines to cut and tear, fabric scraps, print outs from online resources, and so on. Parental guidance will be strongly urged for collection and repurpose of materials. Learners will be expected to share exercises to the classroom via photos and video and parental assistance to navigate the tech may be required for some learners.
