Let’s Create Affirmation Portraits
The purpose of this workshop is to create a safe, positive, and encouraging space amidst the perpetual negativity that craves to surround us, as we design and create affirmation self-portraits. Portraits that uplift our self-esteem and sense of self-worth.

In many ways, our society thrives off of negativity. We see this in the news, and in our social media feeds. Cosmetic and health-centered industries often profit off of making people feel dissatisfied with themselves. Unfortunately, this push continues to target younger individuals. This combined with online and offline bullying can make young people feel very insecure. The goal of this workshop is for students to not only leave learning how to draw a self-portrait but to also feel affirmed and empowered about themselves, as individuals. I ultimately want students to leave this class with improved and elevated self-esteem. I not only want students to feel, but know that they matter.
There will be no assigned homework.
-One 11”x14” Sheet of paper- (Preferably Drawing or Bristol Paper) (Students can certainly being more than one sheet if they feel like they 'messed up!') -A set of Graphite Pencils -Erasers -Pencil sharpener -A pack of either colorful markers or colorful pencils -Mirror
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The intention of this workshop is to serve as a positive, encouraging, and uplifting space. However, because we will address feelings of insecurity as a subject matter, there are some students who may become emotional.
