Description

Class Experience

Learners will learn facts about Gingerbread Houses. Learners will also learn to follow verbal directions to assemble something.
I made Gingerbread Houses with my students every year for 20 years. They start out not looking very good, but end up looking fantastic!
Something on which to mount the Gingerbread house (Styrofoam or strong paper plates work well especially the white ones. They look like snow. Graham Crackers (at least 5 or 6 incase some break) A small can of icing (I found one at a dollar store with sprinkles!) Something to spread the icing with (a plastic knife or a spoon) Various candies: Whatever they would like to use. Here are some that work well: gumdrops, red hots, M&Ms, Skittles, sprinkles, and little round peppermints
20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners may need help spreading the icing and creating the roof of the house, especially if they are using a knife to spread the icing and cut the roof.
