What's included
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be asked to follow the teacher demonstrations, cooking the recipe each week. Students are encouraged to try out their dishes!Class Experience
In this four week FLEX class, students will learn a variety of beginning cooking techniques, tips, and kitchen safety/sanitation skills, while participating in cooking labs to create some delicious food! Students will take away new recipes, skills, and a sense of confidence in the kitchen. Students should be able to read a recipe and follow instructions. Please note, there are no live meetings for this class to allow students maximum flexibility to participate each week. This class is a combination of demonstration, discussion, and interaction. I will post a video demonstration every Monday, providing step-by-step instructions to complete each dish. On Wednesdays, I will post a Q&A, fun facts or trivia based on what we have learned that week. Students are encouraged to post videos or photos of their completed dishes in the Outschool classroom, and respond to at least two other student postings. Opportunities to interact with the teacher and other students also include written or video reflections about the food that was made, answering questions posed by the teacher, answering questions posted by other students on the classroom message board, and participating in the different activities. Each class varies in size, so each lesson and discussion will vary. I will be interacting and engaging with students throughout the week through direct video message or text, and will be providing one on one guidance and support as needed. Week 1: Homemade Pizza Week 2: Mini Cheesecakes Week 3: Vegetable Enchiladas with Guacamole (*meat can be added) Week 4: Chocolate Mousse
