Description
Class Experience
This class is for kids that want to help with a Thanksgiving (or any occasion) side dish without needing any real cooking skills. It's a variation of the classic Green Bean Casserole; the best part is, students can add/subtract nearly any ingredient to adjust to their liking, and it is easy to scale up for more guests! During class I will walk them through the initial preparation, leaving only the final step--heating--left to the discretion of the students and their families, as it only...
I cook a lot in my free time and have made this recipe many times. This is not a class about nutrition, but rather practicing a life skill that is transferable to any dining occasion.
Students are encouraged to follow along, but it is not necessary to enroll in the class--they may just watch and learn! If participating, you will need: -Large mixing bowl -13.5" casserole dish -Large spoon -1 can Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (Campbell's or other preferred brand) -1/2 – ¾ cup of milk (Half & Half can be used in ratio to milk) -3-4 cans Fresh Cut Green Beans (Depending on number of guests) -Bacon Pieces (Hormel or other preferred brand "ready to go" pieces will work) -Splash of soy sauce (optional) -Dash Black Pepper -Container of French Fried Onions (French's or other preferred brand) A handout will be provided so you can keep the recipe.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As stated in the overview, no cutting or oven use during the class is required. The casserole will need to be heated before serving, but that is at your discretion. Please see the list of ingredients in the "Materials" section--they are not mandatory for participation. This recipe (as is) would contain milk/dairy and french fried onion crisps, which usually contains gluten, but can be substituted with a gluten-free option. Additionally, soy sauce is an optional addition. For any allergy concerns, please substitute main ingredients with preferred alternative.
