In this four week FLEX class for older students, students will learn a variety of beginning cooking techniques, tips, and kitchen safety/sanitation skills, while participating in cooking labs to create some delicious food! Students will take away new recipes, skills, and a sense of confidence in the kitchen. Students should be able to read a recipe and follow instructions. I am a Certified Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher in New York. I have worked with children for years, teaching them how to cook and become confident in the kitchen.
This class will ask students to post comments as well as photo or video of their creations on the Outschool discussion board, and participate in a variety of challenge activities and games. They will also be asked to follow the teacher demonstrations, cooking the recipe each week. Students are encouraged to try out their dishes!
I will provide an ingredient and equipment list for the first week one week before class begins. Every Monday, the ingredient list for the next week will be posted.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parental Guidance may be needed to assist the student in the kitchen. Please notify the teacher of any food allergies. Substitutions can be made for most recipes. Students will be provided a list of ingredients and equipment one week in advance.
