I am a 5th grade math teacher, and have taught math on Outschool since January 2019, in addition to tutored from 6-12 grade in math content including: geometry, algebra, pre-algebra,etc. I have served as a middle school teacher for 8 years, including mathematics. I have worked with various students from various backgrounds to help them master mathematics for over 10 years as a teacher, including private tutoring. I am very familiar with digital learning and how to work with students online, and utilize the chat feature to allow a more inclusive, yet private, learning experience for students in a group setting. I encourage participation to talk through problems and solutions to support interaction and education. I also integrate review for students to practice to show me how they are progressing. I stay on after the session ends if students need a bit more review.
Homework Offered
Students will be provided a set of practice problems (15-20) per week. Students are to complete the problems and submit them back to the teacher for grading by Sunday evening to allow return time and feedback (submission is optional for homeschool records). Practice is strongly encouraged to gain the most from the concepts0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
At the end of the class, a link will be provided for assessment to determine mastery. Families will be provided the final score via a report with the answers selected for review (upon request). This will support academic evidence for home school or school requirements for transcripts (please consult your school prior if other evidence is needed to support academic learning).Grades Offered
Practice sheets will be provided weekly after each session to allow students to practice the skill we reviewed that week. Students will need paper and pencil for each session to work problems out.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
While there is no sensitive material in this class, parents are encouraged to ensure students complete practice to take away the most from this course as outside practice will support content learned.
Practice will come from math-aids.com
