1 hour per week. Learners will continue to explore and investigate individual features of Scratch outside of class time.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learn the basics of programming in a playful, interactive way. Create your own programs in Scratch, while you are learning how to write good and clear code. It is just like any other language and is best learned at an early age. Kids might find it challenging to understand mathematical concepts like coordinates, axis, random numbers, and variables. But MIT rose to this challenge and created Scratch, a programming language for this generation. It uses block-based animations to illustrate coding concepts and opens a door to the wonderful world of programming and design. These classes are for the beginning learners, enabling them to create story animations, games, music, and art. There’s no need for any previous experience. Beginners will get familiar with the Scratch learning environment, its graphic design tools, buttons, and elements. They will create fun stories by dragging and dropping built-in blocks of code, which will help them create a logical flow and understand the structure of programming. Each step will be hands-on where we build a program together step by step before learners create their own. Once learners can independently build their own program, we continue but as a Scratch coding club which will be ongoing. In this club format, learners will work together with guidance and support. The list of lessons for each class meeting is listed below: First-class: Investigating the Features of Scratch Second-class: Creating Sprites Third-class: Color changes and costumes Fourth-class: Creating new characters Fifth-class: Pen features Sixth-class: Playing with sound Seventh-class: Catchup day Eighth-class: Entering conditional commands Ninth-class: Incorporating keyboard and mouse commands Tenth-class: Broadcasting Eleventh-class: Random Numbers Twelfth-class: Random Numbers ( continue ) Thirteenth-class: Introducing Variables Fourteenth- class: Building code

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a state-certified primary school teacher with a specialty in STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) I have taught various subjects but my most loved area is coding with Scratch. During my teacher training, I had taken extra graduate-level coursework in coding. I have taught for many years in the public school system and is well experienced.
