Description

Class Experience

Phonics using one syllable words like (cat, mat, rat) will be introduced in the reading lessons. Learners will focus on listening to beginning sounds and formations of those letters to be discussed in their creation of word families. They will match word sounds and pictures, sort, rhyme, play creative games and circle the pictures with the family sound being discussed. Students will develop an understanding of letter sounds, listen to identify the words that have similar ending or rhyming sounds and placing them in the same family being discussed. They will be able to choose the words from a story or song using picture clues.

I am a retired educator with experience from elementary to high school learners as a teacher, curriculum facilitator and professional substitute teacher. I love learning and enjoy sharing with others!

Homework will not be assigned, however, students may be given worksheets of skills to be studied to focus on prior to coming to class or even after the class as a follow up.

Informal assessments may be made based on student participation in class.
