In this one time class we will celebrate all of the special fathers, step-fathers, uncles, and grandfathers in our lives! We will start by reading "Father's Day" a text that tells the history of Father's Day, how we celebrate, describes Father's Day around the world, and gives ideas for how to make Dad feel special. Next, we will discuss what we love about our fathers (which will help us prepare for our craft). Last, we will create a craft (see class image) where we will tell what we love about our fathers. It will be great gift for Dad to hang somewhere special!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about Father's Day in order to create a meaningful gift to give to Dad.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! I am a second grade teacher that is blessed to teach all major subject areas! Variety is the spice of life, and I like my job to be extra spicy by getting to teach reading, math, writing, social studies, and science!
The most important thing to do while learning is to have fun! To make learning fun I incorporate Legos, cartoons (Scooby is my favorite!), dancing, singing, and all around silliness! I have developed several courses through Outschool that incorporate these fun things! I do have extensive experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, and behavior management and make sure to intertwine strong teaching practices with the fun.
On a personal note, I have been a second grade teacher at a Title One school in Eastern Baltimore County for 18 years. I have my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and master's degree in Elementary Reading and Math. I have also continued my learning (I told you I love learning!) and completed 60 credits of post graduate learning in elementary education. I also teach online courses to other teachers through Goucher College in Baltimore.
In my free time I love spending time with my family, which includes my husband Jason, and two sons Caleb and Blake. I have three rescue chihuahuas named Flick, Reese, and Dolly that bring me so much joy!
