Teacher expertise and credentials
Hey there! My name is Meghann Buehner and I am a homeschool mom to three amazing kids! I have over 15 years of early childhood experience. I have a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Child and Family Services. I also will be completing my Masters in December 2019 in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught and continue to teach at our local homeschool co-op in subjects such as science, worldview and sign language. I worked for over 15 years at various child development centers and was in charge of developing age appropriate curriculum and individualizing lesson plans for children ages 15 months to 5 years. In those centers I taught various classes including intro to colors, numbers, shapes and letters, science, reading, art and PE. I have also tutored college students who were struggling in English and writing. In the past few years I have scored English and writing papers for various students for the education company, Pearson. At home I love to engage my own children with some of my favorite subjects including science experiments, sensory activities, arts and crafts, baking and US History.
I believe that learning thru play is very powerful and can be used in a variety of classes. I also believe that all children learn and perform at different levels. Therefore, adaptability and flexibility will be needed in each class. I love open discussion, hands on activities, answering questions and allowing the children to dictate, in some ways, how the class will evolve. Learning should be fun!
I love scrapbooking, crafts, sensory activities, reading, writing, baking, organizing, hiking, traveling, decorating and my guilty pleasure - watching professional wrestling. Yep! I’ve been a fan since I was a child. My husband thinks I’m crazy!
My classes will encompass my interests. I hope to engage younger ages in craft classes, scrapbooking, reading, baking and sensory activities. Older children I plan to offer organizing, crafting and decorating classes. I also hope to have some fun, out of the box classes about wrestling. Perhaps the history of, quiz games, and fun discussions of our favorite characters.
I am looking forward to this new and exciting experience! I can’t wait to meet your children! Thank you!
