Class Experience
What will be taught: This class is perfect for a learner who is just beginning their reading journey. We will read simple sentences such as "Pop got on the mat". This is a great pre-reading course as well for kids who are still mastering letter sounds. In this ongoing group class, we will focus on phonemic awareness skills in a fun and engaging way. By the end of each class, the students will read a short, decodable book together as a class. What phonemic awareness topics will we cover: -...
Students will learn basic phonemes. Students will learn various phonemic awareness skills. Students will learn sight words and high-frequency words. Students will learn to recognize words in a sentence.
I received a certificate for IMSE's Phonological Awareness course based on Orton-Gillingham. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. I received my Teacher Certificate in Idaho in 2011, which allowed me to teach Reading/Writing for 7th and 12th grade for 2 years. I received my TESOL certificate and taught ESL for 5 years.
