There are many cool jobs that people can have that fall into the conservation category. Each of these jobs have different responsibilities, but they all have the goal of protecting and saving species. During this class, students will learn about conservation and why it is so important to protect species and the environment. We will discuss the purpose behind conservation efforts, learn about various jobs that one can have in the field, and take a quiz to see which career would be the best fit for us based upon our skills, talents, and passions! During our session learners will have time to discuss their results and reflect on whether they think it would be a good fit. As the facilitator I will guide learners through understanding this practice in an age appropriate way and model our group activity. I've been teaching sustainability to children, teenagers, and adults for a number of years and have a passion for engaging learners of all ages in this learning. I also am a wildlife sketch artist and use this practice while doing conservation field work. In the materials section below, you can find everything that you will need for this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi everyone! My name is Kerry and I am an educator from New York City. I have a passion for sustainability, travel, adventure, art, and creativity and hope to share that with students in every class.
Professionally, I have a B.S. and M.S. in Education as well as an M.A. in Conservation Biology and have taught a variety of grades from Grade K to Grade 12. Throughout the past few years I've had some awesome field work experiences in partnership with National Geographic, Project Dragonfly, and The Wildlife Conservation Society where I've been able to explore and create resources and lessons to share that sense of adventure and stewardship with others.
I believe that learning is a journey and should be fun and inclusive. No matter the subject area, I love to incorporate creativity and reflective thinking to have students not only learn content but also see how they can be change makers in the world!
