During the next three weeks, your learner will be immersed in the exciting world of microbiology. Session 1: Anatomy of the Microscope: 20 MINUTES We will review parts of the microscope and each of their functions. We will look at photos and label a microscope together. The following parts will be reviewed: arm, base, coarse focus, fine focus, eye piece, tube, stage, stage clips, objective lenses, illuminator. Session 2: 10 Cool Things You Can See Under a Microscope: 20 MINUTES We will look at photos/videos of different biotic species and abiotic items shown at different magnifications. We can also review names of different biotic species. We will also go over different shapes of bacteria and viruses. Colorful photos and awe-inspiring videos will be shown. Session 3: What Can You See Under Your Microscope? : 20 MINUTES We would then conclude with reviewing steps on how to set up a slide for the microscope to view. This will help guide your learner on how to do this at home. Your learner would then receive a Junior Microbiologist Level 1 certificate of participation as well as a PDF of "5 Fun Facts About Microbes".
Learning Goals
You do not need any previous experience for this class.
Our 3 goals by the end of our time together are:
1. Name the parts of the microscope and understand their functions.
2. Be excited to identify pictures of magnified objects as well as bacteria and viruses.
3. Feel confident in reviewing items under their lens.
4. Gain eagerness and motivation toward microbiology.

Supply List
Kindly bring an eraser, paper, pencil, markers or pencil crayons, any materials provided by myself prior to the class, and, most important, yourself. You will do great!

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a certified teacher. I have 15 years of teaching experience. I love science and have taught science classes over the years. My first degree is in science and I have taken a number of microbiology classes too.
